Seven Lakes Basin
Seven Lakes Basin in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest is a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature. This trail is long at 8.4 miles out and back. However, it is considered easy and boasts some of the most spectacular scenery in Northern California’s crown jewel: Mount Shasta.
Cosumnes River Walk
If shade and lots of greenery are your thing, check out the River Walk at Consumnes River Preserve in south Sacramento. The three-mile round trail is incredibly relaxing and has amazing views of the river and lots of forestries.

Bumpass Hell Trail
This is one of those “must-do” hikes in Northern California and spring is the perfect time to do it. The Bumpass Hell Trail is located in Lassen Volcanic National Park. Here you’ll find boiling water pits, clay pots, and plenty of sulfur vents. It is one of the most amazing easy hikes in Northern California.
Sacramento River Trail
The Sacramento River Trail at Caldwell Park is a nice family hike that offers a little bit of everything. Great views of the river, lots of trees and not one but two beautiful bridges.
Lady Bird Johnson Grove Trail
This walk near Orick, California allows you to experience the glory of a beautiful forest. The loop trail is just over a mile and is very flat. It is perfect for families or for those who just want to take a nice walk in the woods. It’s another wonderful trail and one of the best hikes for kids in Northern California.
