A few days ago it was announced by Sony that the Play Station 5 will have an increase in prices in certain countries of the world. The reason? Jim Ryan, president, and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, mentioned that it is a consequence of the global economic environment and the high rates of inflation around the world.
Following the news, Xbox took this opportunity to remind its fans that this will not happen to them.
Microsoft has stated that there are no plans to increase the price of the Xbox Series X/S. This means the Xbox Series S suddenly seems like an attractive deal, especially for those with fast internet, who can bypass its small memory capacity by streaming games on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Microsoft may very well change its mind in the future, but a lower price point could do wonders for its performance in the console market.

Nintendo also joined the announcements and confirmed that it has no plans to increase the price of the console any time soon.
According to VGC, a Nintendo spokesperson assured that the retailers are the ones who determine the prices, but in the end, the commercial prices will remain the same. Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa also backed this up, stating at the company’s 82nd Annual General Meeting that Nintendo would not be raising the price of the Switch for now.
“While we cannot comment on pricing strategies, we currently have no plans to change the price of our hardware due to inflation or increased acquisition costs in individual countries. We will determine our future pricing strategies through careful and ongoing deliberation.”
